Mary L. Sims, 83, of Hannibal, died at 9:15 p.m. Wednesday, March 24, 2010, at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.


Mary L. Sims, 83, of Hannibal, died at 9:15 p.m. Wednesday, March 24, 2010, at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, March 29, at Antioch Baptist Church in Hannibal. Pastor Jack Emmite will officiate. Burial will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Hannibal.
Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at the James O’Donnell Funeral Home.
Mrs. Sims was born August 8, 1926, in Hannibal, to Clarence L. and Cleo P. Harwood Dryden.
She was married to Roydon E. Sims on Oct. 1, 1947, in Hannibal. He preceded her in death Jan. 27, 1990.
Survivors include four children, Susan K. Miner of Chester, Ill., Jayne Prentice of Redwood City, Calif., Karen Forrest of Quincy, Ill., and Gregg Sims of Hannibal; four sisters, Thelma Rascher of St. Louis, Jean Sims (Dale) of Hannibal, Virginia Stolte of Hannibal and Shirley Cramlett of Rockford, Ill.; three sisters-in-law, Kathleen Wegehoft of Hannibal, Shirley Brown of Biloxi, Miss., and JoAnn Sims of New London; five grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Edwards T. Dryden and one sister, Irene Richmond.
Mrs. Sims was the former owner and operator of Gibney Sims Flowers. She enjoyed reading the Bible, listening to music and traveling. Mary was a member of Antioch Baptist Church.
Memorial contributions may be made to Antioch Baptist Church Roof Fund in care of the James O’Donnell Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Alan Sims, Bruce Sims, Brent Sims, Tyler Nicosia, Tymothy Croxton and Robert Williams.
Honorary pallbearers will be Dale Sims and Larry Forrest.
