The Clopton Music Department will present its sixth annual “Showcase of Stars” at 7:30 p.m. Saturday.


   The Clopton Music Department will present its sixth annual “Showcase of Stars” at 7:30 p.m. Saturday.

   The variety show will be held in the old gym of Clopton High School. This year’s theme is “The Gong Show,” and will feature special guest judges, Helen Boyd, Mary Lou Tucker and Principal Larry Lagemann.

   More than 40 Clopton students from will be performing or participating. The show is directed by Kent Kanauss, Clopton director of bands and choir, and will feature the Clopton Jazz Band.

   There will also be vocal solo and duet performers, instrumental performers, a group from the Howard St. Dance Studio, two rock bands, and versions of regular Gong Show favorites such as The Unknown Comic, Chuckie’s Fables and Gene, Gene, the Dancin’ Machine.

   Reserved tickets are $6 for adults and $4 for seniors and children ages five to 12. Tickets also will be available at the door.

   Money raised from the show will be used to improve stage lighting and sound.
