The Hannibal Piecemakers Quilt Guild’s (HPQG) will host its first Biennial Quilt Show on April 10 and 11 at Veterans Elementary School in Hannibal. The theme is “Stars over Hannibal. The hours on Saturday, April 10, will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on April 11 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The public is invited, and door prizes will be drawn from attendees. Admission will be $5 at the door.
Quilt appraisals will be available by Hallye Bone, appraiser, certified by the American Quilters Society (AQS). Vendors will be selling quilting supplies and offering demonstrations.  A concession area will be operated by Hannibal school groups raising funds for trips.
“We are very fortunate to have this first-time event planned,” said Pat Waelder, owner of the Hickory Stick Quilt Shop. “We have a wide variety of talents in the Hannibal Guild and for them to showcase their ‘love of quilting’ is very exciting to us all. ... I am extremely thrilled to see this quilt show come to our town.”
“The vending committee has been able to secure some nationally-known vendors for this show that the local quilter may not have had the opportunity to visit in person,” said Carole Lannerd, HPQG vendor coordinator. “There will be something for everyone, from sewing machines to batting to fabric and other quilting essentials. The variety of merchants will give everyone the opportunity to shop, plus enjoy the display of quilts.”
Sandi Nix, HPQG president, said the guild is proud to be hosting this event. “Our guild is filled with amazing talent, and several members have won awards at the state level or have been published in national quilt magazines. We have 75 members, and our guild is quite active in supporting the quilting art through charity and teaching.”
The local quilt guild was organized in 1992. It meets at 6 p.m. the first Tuesday of every month at the Park United Methodist Church in Hannibal.
