Howard Calvin Jones, 61, of Monroe City, passes away at 6:45 a.m. Monday, March 22, 2010, at his home.
He was born Sept. 22, 1948, in Monroe City, the son of Herbert C. and Ella Mae Scott Jones.
Mr. Jones graduated from Monroe City High School with the class of 1966. He then served his country in the United States Army. He worked for Diemakers Inc./Intermet beginning in 1972 before retiring in 2006. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and spending time with his family and friends.
Survivors include one son, Duane Buckner, Moberly; two daughters, Carol Ann Jones, Monroe City and Diane Smith, Chicago, Ill.; two brothers, Harold Jones, Monroe City and Jeff Jones, Palmyra; two sisters, Helen Hayes, Columbia, Mo., and Hazel Dickerson, Monroe City.
Also survived by eight grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Rolanda Jones and one brother, Hilbert Jones.
Graveside funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, March 26, 2010, at St. Jude Cemetery, Monroe City. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. Friday until 1 p.m. at Garner Funeral Home, Monroe City.
Pallbearers will be Duane Buckner, John Mayfield, Kent Holland, Brent Holland, Andre White and Albert Washington.
Honorary pallbearer will be Chuck Jones.
Garner Funeral Home and Chapel are in charge of arrangements.
