The Hannibal Pirates tennis team started off the season with a convincing 11-1 victory Tuesday.
Taking on Fulton at home, Hannibal dropped just one doubles match on the day to the Hornets.
Bhavesh Katbamna won his No. 1 singles match 10-1 to get things started for the Pirates. No. 2 singles player Daniel Oullette won his match 10-4. On the No. 3 court, Eli Jackson won 10-7.
Chris Bueler, Hannibal’s No. 4, won his match 10-3. No. 5 James Zeiger also won 10-3. Jacob Grimes, playing court No. 6, sealed the singles sweep with a 10-4 win.
In doubles action, Ouellette and Jackson won 11-9. Katbamna and Bueler won thier match 10-6. Zeiger and Grimes teamed up to win 10-4. No. 4 doubles team Matt Flanigan and Murray McFarlane won their match 10-2.
Mitchell Crane and Brett Hinton won 10-3. The No. 6 doubles team of Jared Held and T.C. Pierceall lost 10-6 for the only Fulton win.
In JV action, Anthony Haar and Phillip Murphy teamed up to split two matches, winning one 8-4 and losing one 8-1. Kristoper Wiliing and Chris Mefford also split their two matches, winning 9-8 and losing 8-1.
Hannibal tennis is back in action at 4 p.m. Thursday in Quincy.
