Carl J. Varadin, 70, of Hannibal, died at 5:56 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 31, 2009, at Hannibal Regional Hospital in Hannibal. 


Carl J. Varadin, 70, of Hannibal, died at 5:56 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 31, 2009, at Hannibal Regional Hospital in Hannibal. 
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 5, at Holy Family Church in Hannibal. Father Mike Quinn will officiate. Burial will be at Holy Family Cemetery in Hannibal.  
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 4, with a prayer service at 7 p.m. at the James O’Donnell Funeral Home.
Mr. Varadin was born Sept. 7, 1939, in East St. Louis, Ill., to Martin and Mary Varadin.
He was married to Joan C. Zepf on June 14, 1969, in St. Louis, Mo. She survives.
Other survivors include two sons, Robert Varadin (Mary Grace) of Phoenix, Ariz., and Charles Varadin (Donna) of Augusta, Ga.; and five grandchildren, Grace, Eddie, Andrew, Anna Marie and Joy.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Tom Varadin; and one sister, Rose Mary Letherwood.
Mr. Varadin worked as a custodian for the Hannibal public schools. He did extensive volunteer work with Holy Family Church and senior citizen organizations. He ran the Day-Night Cleaning Service for 25 years. Mr. Varadin was a member of Holy Family Church.
