The interchange at U.S. 24/61 just south of Palmyra will close in the spring of 2010 to be repaired. The Missouri Department of Transportation will set up an information table and have representative at the Tuesday, Jan. 12, basketball game between Palmyra and Hannibal at Palmyra High School to answer questions about this bridge overpass and other bridges in the area that are to be repaired under its Safe and Sound Bridge program.
“The fastest and least expensive way for us to repair these bridges is the close roads,” said MoDOT engineer Macy Rodenbaugh.
Another bridge slated for repairs is over the North River, just north of Palmyra. According to Rodenbaugh, traffic will run head to head on the southbound lanes of U.S. 24/61 while that bridge is closed for repairs.
A MoDOT representative will be at the game in Palmyra from 6:30 p.m. until 8 p.m. MoDOT is also scheduled to make a presentation at the city council meeting in Palmyra on Thursday, Jan. 21. The public is invited to attend either of these or contact MoDOT for more information at 1-888-275-6636 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
