Alice Ruth Beadle Stewart, 85, of Hannibal, died at 1:49 p.m. Friday, Dec. 25, 2009, at her niece’s home in Hannibal.


Alice Ruth Beadle Stewart, 85, of Hannibal, died at 1:49 p.m. Friday, Dec. 25, 2009, at her niece’s home in Hannibal.
Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 30, 2009, at the Grand View Funeral Home in Hannibal. Pastor Mark Albee will officiate. Burial will follow at the Grand View Burial Park in Hannibal.
Visitation will be from 2 p.m. until the time of service, Wednesday, at the Grand View Funeral Home in Hannibal.
Mrs. Stewart was born Jan. 18, 1924, in Denver, Colo., the daughter of Ona W. Beadle and Grace Brainerd Beadle. She married Edward L. Stewart on Feb. 18, 1956, in Hannibal, and he preceded her in death Sept. 13, 1989.
She is survived by her son, Dale A. Cross of Quincy, Ill.; her three sisters, Mary Basket of Excelsior Springs, Mo., Iona (Daniel) Closs Hoag of Hannibal and Anna (Leo) Bledsoe of Lees Summit, Mo.; along with several nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; her son, Robert “Butch” Cross; her brothers, Jack Beadle, Ona Beadle Jr., Charles Beadle, Wilbur Beadle and James Beadle; and her sister, Opal Carter.
She was a machine operator for the C. L. Downey Company, in Hannibal, for 22 years. She was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church, but had more recently been attending the Immanuel Baptist Church, both of Hannibal. She has lived in this area most of her life, moving here from Kansas City, Mo.
Honorary pallbearers will be Phillip Dinwiddie, Randy Closs, Leo Bledsoe, Dean Beadle, Randy Pritchett and Frank Pitcher.
Memorials may be made to the Calvary Baptist Church in care of Grand View Funeral Home.
