Pirates end

season

The Middle School Pirate wrestlers ended their season at the Mexico Tourney on Saturday Dec. 19th.

Sheldon Nichols led the way as he and five other wrestlers won four matches on the day. Nichols and Kyle Messer each picked up first place wins. Ian Robertson and Matt McNeal also reached the finals but were unable to pull out a victory and came home with second place finishes. Cory Novak and Brett Wessel each went going 4-1 and bringing home a third place medal. 

Other Pirates who had success were Josh Gilbert and Austin Ibbeson who both finished 2-2 on the day while Nick Meyer went 1-3.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Brashear    11
Marion County picked up another win on Monday. Taking on Brashear, the Lady Mustangs won 58-11. Marion County came out strong scoring 21 points in the first quarter and 19 in the second quarter to enter the locker room up 40-2. Jessica Redd outscored Brashear with a game-high 17 points.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Brashear    48
The Marion County boys won Monday night against Brashear 56-48. Kason Spratt led all scorers with 22 points for the Mustangs. Nathan Wikowsky also had 14 points and Clay Pollard had 11 for Marion County. The Mustangs trailed 8-7 after one quarter before turning things and coming away with the win.

8th GRADE BASKETBALL

The Hannibal middle school boys improved to 8-0 on Saturday with a 55-28 win. Eric Hugenberg led the way for the Pirates with 17 points. Jeff Damon and ’Lijah Harrison each had eight points for Hannibal.

The Hannibal 8th grade girls beat Highland 29-12 on Saturday. Hannibal is now 7-2 on the year. Jodeci Washington and Kylee Anderson each had six points to lead the Lady Pirates.
