A Troy woman suffered moderate injuries Thursday when her car struck a parked Missouri State Highway Patrol cruiser in St. Charles County.
The mishap happened at 1:29 p.m. on northbound U.S. 61 south of Farris. According to the MSHP, the state patrol’s 2008 Ford Crown Victoria was unoccupied and parked in the left land of northbound U.S. 61 with its emergency lights activated. A 2002 Ford Escape was being driven north by 54-year-old Jeanie Chandler in the right-hand lane. Chandler reported that she thought the patrol car was in the right lane and moved her vehicle into the left lane where she struck the rear of the Crown Victoria.
The estimated damage to the cruiser is $20,000. No damage estimate to the Escape was provided.
Chandler, who was wearing a safety device at the time of the accident, was transported to St. Joseph West in Lake St. Louis by St. Charles County Ambulance.
