Two of three people taken into custody near downtown Hannibal Thursday afternoon remained in jail Friday pending the issuance of warrants.
Members of the police department’s Special Response Team executed a search warrant at a residence in the 800 block of Center shortly before 3:30 p.m. Arrested inside the residence were Brandon L. Morgan, 26, of Hannibal and Cody L. Phelps, 18, of Saverton.
According to the HPD, a search of the residence resulted in the recovery of several items of drug paraphernalia and a quantity of green leafy substance believed to be marijuana.
Following their arrest, both Morgan and Phelps were transported to the Hannibal Police Department. They were later transferred to the Marion County Jail where they were placed on a 24-hour hold for possession of a controlled substance (felony), possession of drug paraphernalia (misdemeanor) and manufacture/delivery of a controlled substance (felony). Both men remained in jail Friday pending the issuance of warrants.
The search warrant that led to the arrests was issued by the 10th Judicial Circuit Court. Its issuance was based on information turned up during investigations by the Hannibal Police Department Narcotics Unit.
