Entries are being accepted in the Mark Twain Museum's first Gingerbread House Contest and Display, which will conclude Saturday, Dec. 8. The free contest is part of the Victorian Festival of Christmas' Living Windows, which will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Dec. 8.

All the houses will be on display to the public in the Museum Gallery window. The public will vote for the winners during Living Windows, and they will be announced at 8 p.m. at the conclusion of Living Windows.

The Gingerbread House contest is sponsored by Hannibal's Walmart and County Market stores. The three categories are:

Children ages 6 to 17, sponsored by Hannibal's County Market, with the winner to receive a $50 gift card to County Market.

Adults ages 18 and over, sponsored by Hannibal's Walmart, with the winner to receive a $150 gift card to Hannibal's Walmart.

Walmart Gingerbread House kit. Enter a decorated Gingerbread House from a kit accompanied by proof of purchase from Walmart to be eligible.

All gingerbread houses must be created by using gingerbread and all edible materials. Bases should be no larger than 12" by 18" and may be constructed using cardboard, foam core or 1/2' plywood. Interior supports, if needed, may consist of straws, toothpicks, small dowels, spaghetti or candy canes.

The entries may be brought to the Mark Twain Museum Gallery, 120 N. Main St., between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. through Saturday, Dec. 8. One Gingerbread House per person with entry form will be allowed.

All entries to be picked up at the Museum Gallery between 8 p.m. Dec. 8 or Monday through Friday, Dec. 10 to Jan. 4, between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Unclaimed houses will be discarded.
