Raymond W. and Juanita A. Witt of Hannibal observed their 60th anniversary on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 23, 2017.
They were married at the Hannibal home of Rev. John Golden on Nov. 23, 1957. Their attendants were Mr. Witt's brother, the late L. Eugene Witt, and his wife, Shirley.
Mr. Witt is the son of the late Lester and Roma Witt. Juanita is the daughter of the late John and Helen Oertel Rosenkrans.
The couple raised two children and are the parents of Christy L. Coons of Hannibal and Robert W. Witt (Marilyn) of Magnolia, Texas.
They are proud grandparents of four grandchildren, Gunny Sergeant, Jared C. Coons USMC (Tisa) of Gardnerville, Nevada, Audra J. Allgood (Michael) of Hannibal, Muriel R. Witt (Sean) of Houston, Texas, and Troy K. Witt (Emily) of Houston, Texas.
Their four precious great-grandchildren are Logan, Adalyn, Lauryn and Maegyn, children of Michael and Audra Algood.
The pet family consists of two “happy” Pomeranians, Toby and Daisy, and a new kitten, Willow.
Mr. Witt served in the U.S. Navy and retired from the Quincy Soybean Co., in his retirement years also serving on the Hannibal Adjustment Board and Hannibal Tree Board. He developed woodworking skills in his youth and has generously shared this talent, with many items made for his family and friends. He enjoys attending local auctions, studying currency and watching nostalgic movies.
Mrs. Witt worked for many years in the Hannibal area, with her first position at the Mary Ann Sweet Shop on Broadway, and then later retiring from Swiss Colony Data Center. She celebrates each day, studying the Bible and feeding local wildlife. She enjoys watching game shows and polka.
The couple is very thankful for the blessings of their family and friends, and this special time in their life.
Their 60th wedding and “diamond” anniversary will be celebrated Saturday, Nov. 25, 2017, with a reception hosted by their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
