Obituary: Robert Leo Smith, NOV. 24, 1959 — JUNE 20, 2020

Robert Leo Smith, 60, of Industry, Illinois, formerly of Keokuk, Iowa, and Hannibal, Missouri, passed away at 11:45 a.m. Saturday, June 20, 2020, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, Illinois.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, June 26, 2020, at the James O'Donnell Funeral Home in Hannibal, Missouri. The Rev. Tim Goodman will officiate.

Burial will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Hannibal, Missouri.

Friends and Family are invited to Robert's Life Celebration at a visitation that will be from Friday, June 26, 2020, from 9 a.m. until the time of services at the funeral home.

Robert was born November 24, 1959, in Hannibal, Missouri to Arnold O. Smith and Stella Mae McCubbins Smith.

Survivors include his companion of over 12 years, Etta McHone; eight children, Robert Smith Jr., Amanda Marsden (Aimee), Joey Smith, Bobbi Jo Little, Tyre Smith (Barry), Daffany Pugh (Jeremy), Hannah McHone and Yancey McHone (Amanda); three brothers, Gary Smith (Bonnie), Russell Smith of Hannibal and Mike Smith (Diane); and four sisters, Sandy Charlton (Harvey), Karen Sue Haynes, Vicky Burton and Cathy Nicosia. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and two sisters.

Professionally Robert was a supervisor at Keokuk Steel Casting and later worked as a truck driver for Leeser Trucking Company. 

Robert was an excellent cook and made the best ribs, and liked cooking meals for his family. He also enjoyed deer hunting and fishing for catfish on the river. Trips to the Colorado Mountains were always some of his favorite times.
