Dennis Ray McAfee, 60, of Hannibal, passed away at 1:43 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 29, 2019, at his residence.
Funeral Service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 5, 2019, at the James O'Donnell Funeral Home in Hannibal. Rev. Tim Goodman will officiate. Burial will be at Grand View Burial Park in Hannibal.
Friends and family are invited to Dennis' Life Celebration at a visitation that will be Friday from 5-7 p.m. at James O'Donnell Funeral Home in Hannibal.
Dennis was born May 30, 1959, in Hannibal, to Jerry Ray and Mary Evelyn Glascock McAfee.
He was married to Deborah Pennewell on April 14, 1984, in Hannibal. She survives.
Other survivors include two sons, Steven Ray McAfee of St. Louis and Dennis Eugene McAfee of Hannibal; one brother, Jerry "Jay" Arnold McAfee of Hannibal; one sister, Mary "Kim" Kimberly Cull of Hannibal; and one granddaughter, Evelyn Noel McAfee.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Charlotte McDowell; and his grandparents, Dora Glascock and Samuel Downing Glascock.
Dennis was a graduate of Hannibal High School Class of 1977.
Professionally Dennis was a law enforcement officer. He worked for the Marion County Sheriff's Department for about 12 years until his retirement.
Dennis was a handyman who could fix anything. He loved cooking and spending time on his computer looking for new recipes. He enjoyed barbecuing and smoking meat. Dennis was an avid gardener and spent much time outside maintaining his garden. He liked sharing his produce with his friends and neighbors.
Most of all, Dennis especially loved the time he spent with his granddaughter, Evelyn, and his family.
Dennis was a past member of the Hannibal Jaycees.
He was a Christian by faith.
Memorial contributions may be made to Dream Catchers or Wonderland Camp in Eldon.
