Monroe City Police discover body

MONROE CITY, Mo. | Monroe City Police said they discovered the body of a 26-year-old woman on Thursday afternoon.

Police Chief Tyler Wheeler said that officers responded to Bellfield Apartments located at No. 12 Gateway Square, Apartment 6 in reference to a well-being check at around 2 p.m.

Wheeler said upon making entry into the apartment, officers discovered the body of a woman they  identified as Ceaira Madden, 26 of Monroe City. 

“Next of kin has been notified and an autopsy has been scheduled to determine a cause of death at the coroner's request; in company with a death investigation by the Monroe City Police Department.  No other information is available at this time,” Wheeler said in a news release.
