HANNIBAL | In a day and age when many cost increases seem to be substantial, Hannibal-LaGrange University has done what it can to minimize tuition impacts to families.

“Our tuition increase will be one of the lowest in the last 10 years,” Will Brantley, vice-president for enrollment management and marketing, said.

“Everyone at Hannibal-LaGrange is committed to doing everything possible to help our students succeed here. We are constantly evaluating our budgets, costs, and scholarships to make sure that we continue to provide an outstanding experience for students at the most affordable price possible.”

Tuition itself is only $250 more than in 2019-20, general fees are increasing by $160, and there will be no increase for room and board, bringing the total increase to 1.13%, compared to the 4-6% typical of private universities.

“We know that a private university education is costly, but we've worked really hard to trim our budgets and keep our expenses as low as possible so that we can keep costs as low as possible,” Brantley said.

HLGU administrators say they are committed to making a distinctively Christian, academically excellent education as affordable as possible for students and their families. The University boasts that 100% of students qualify for scholarships or financial aid.

“We hope that such a small increase in costs coupled with recent efforts to help more students retain their scholarships will be a big help for our current students to continue their education at Hannibal-LaGrange University and an encouragement to prospective students and families that we are committed to keeping our costs as low as possible for them as they enter the University and progress on to graduate.

“These are exciting days at HLGU and the Lord is doing great things on our campus,” Brantley said.

Whether through classroom instruction, student life, or keeping University costs low, faculty and staff strive to serve students and their families by being everyday examples of the University's motto, “knowledge for service.”
