Drivers injured when car hits construction vehicle

Toni M. Brown, 32, of Shelbina, and Dennis J. Stevermer, 38, of Minnisota Lake, Minn., were in injured in a collision at 2:35 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 7, in rural Shelby County.
Brown suffered serious injuries and was flown to the University Hospital in Columbia.

Stevermer had minor injuries and was to seek his own treatment.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported the accident was in the westbound lanes of U.S. 36 in a construction zone four miles east of Shelbina. Both vehicles were traveling west.
Officers reported Brown was driving a 1990 Chevrolet Cavalier, which rear-ended a Broce Street Broom, a piece of construction equipment driven by Stevermer. The car stopped on the highway, and the equipment went off the north side of the road.
