Bid limits in the city of Hannibal are going up. The Hannibal City Council accepted the recommendation of Finance Director Doug Warren during its Tuesday night meeting and gave first reading to a bill that will increase the ceilings that must be reached before bids must be sought.
Warren noted that the 2.7 percent increase across the board is the direct result from the “National All Urban Consumer” inflation rate, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
The rates increased as follows:
• Personal property increases from $3,975 to $4,083.
• Repairs on light equipment and buildings increases from $10,740 to $11,032.
• Repairs on heavy equipment and construction increases from $23,630 to $24,273.
• Service contracts increase from $4,837 to $4,969.
According to the city code the council is required to amend the city’s bid limits annually.
