Nestled in the fall foliage on a hill overlooking a bend in the Missouri River, The Riverbend Chapel at Caroline Vineyards in rural Washington, Mo., was the setting for the Oct. 18, 2008, wedding of Amanda Beth Griffin to Daniel Ryan Coons.
Mandy is the daughter of George and Mary Griffin of Palmyra. Dan is the son of Don and Karen Coons of rural Moberly.
Mr. George Griffin gave his daughter in marriage during the 6 p.m. ceremony. The Reverend Scott Moon, formerly of Palmyra and current minister at Grace Methodist Church in Cape Giradeau, Mo., officiated the double ring ceremony.
The bride wore an ivory strapless gown accented with rum rose appliqués and seed pearls, with a chapel length train that converted to a French bustle for the reception. Her elbow length veil was bordered in rum satin. Her bridal bouquet was made of orange calla lillies and roses, green hypericum berries and fall colored oak leaves.
Serving as matron of honor was her college roommate and sorority sister, Mrs. Kelly Adams of Alabaster, Ala. Bridesmaids were Mrs. Heather Higgins of Hannibal, Mrs. Melissa Prather of New London and Mrs. Jennifer Griffin, sister-in-law of the bride of Phoenix, Ariz.
Best man was John Nguyen of St. John, Mo. Groomsmen were David Raymond of St. Louis, David Coons, brother of the groom, of Kansas City, Mo., and Casey Shaw of St. Charles, Mo. Ushers were Christopher Griffin, brother of the bride, of Phoeniz, Ariz., and Larry Kornfeld, uncle of the groom, of Maryland Heights, Mo.
The junior bridesmaid was Hannah Prather, friend of the bride, of New London.
The flower girl was Abigail Coons, niece of the groom, of Kansas City, Mo.
The bridegroom’s parents hosted a rehearsal dinner at Miller’s Grill in Washington, Mo.
A champagne toast, dinner and dance took place following the ceremony in the reception hall at Riverbend.
Mr. and Mrs. Coons are at home in Maryland Heights, Mo., after honeymooning in Negril, Jamaica.
The bride is a 1996 graduate of Palmyra High School, a graduate of Southeast Missouri State University and Missouri Baptist University with a masters degree in counseling.
She is the quality improvement coordinator for MHNet Behavorial Health in St. Louis.
The groom is a 1997 graduate of Moberly High School and a graduate of Truman State University.
He is a work flow coordinator for Citigroup in O’Fallon, Mo.
