Boys Tennis - Pirates take second at districts

Wrapping up Saturday’s district meet, the Hannibal boys tennis team ended up in second place and will host today’s regional dual.
The Hannibal doubles team of Chris Hassien and Ethan Mobley came up short in their attempt to win a district championship, losing to the team from Kirksville, 6-4, 6-4. The duo qualified for the state meet by reaching the championship match.
The Pirates will host Kirksville in today’s regional beginning at 3 p.m. There will be six singles matches followed by three doubles matches. The winner will move on to the sectional round.
“I’m real proud of the way the kids played this weekend,” said Hannibal coach Jay Johnson. “We’re looking forward to the opportunity to host today’s match and the chance to play Kirksville.”
Final standings from the district meet found Fulton finished in first place, Hannibal in second, Kirksville in third and School of the Osage in fourth.
