Hannibal’s middle school girls basketball team dropped to 6-2 Thursday with a 28-21 loss to Mexico. Gabbie Wiley led the Lady Pirates with 10 points.

The Hannibal 8th grade B team won 20-17 Thursday night. The B team improved to 3-2. Jodeci Washington led the way with five points.
BOYS BASKETBALL
Monroe City 56
South Fulton 38
Monroe City evened its record to 3-3 with a 56-38 win against South Fulton. Tanner Buckman led the way for the Panthers with 22 poitns. Kyle VanNostrand scored 10 points as well for the Panthers.
“I think we won a game we were supposed to win,” Monroe City head coach Brad Dempsey said. “... It was good to get a win.”

Winfield 54
Louisiana beat Winfield 57-54 on Thursday night. Ryan Pitzer led the Bulldogs with 18 points. Michael Ivey had 11 for the now 3-2 Bulldogs.
MS WRESTLING
Middle school Pirates win two
The Hannibal middle school wrestling team was in action back-to-back nights. The Pirates won both.
The Pirates came away victorious against the Panthers of Camp Point Central on Thursday night.
The dual match was highlighted by an sudden-death victory overtime match won by the Pirates’ Matt McNeal.
Overall the Pirates won eight of 10 matches, two of them were by tech fall and five by fall.
The Hannibal Pirate Middle School wrestlers grappled in their only home meet of the season Wednesday night at Korf Gymnasium.
While taking on the Spartans of Moberly, the Pirates won eight of the last nine matches to win the dual with 14 wins against nine losses.
The Pirates were led by: Kyle Messer (2-0, two falls), Cory Novak (2-0, one fall), Ian Robertson (1-0, one fall), Brett Wessel (1-0, one fall) and Matt McNeal (2-0, one fall).
The Pirate grapplers will end there season at the Mexico Tournament this Saturday. Wrestling starts at 9 a.m.
