Kids Fishing Day planned at Mark Twain Lake

In celebration of National Fishing and Boating Week, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Mark Twain Lake will host Kids Fishing Day on Saturday, June 6, for children 5 to 12 years of age.
Participation will be limited to the first 25 children who register in advance at Mark Twain Lake Project Office by calling (573) 735-4097 or by stopping by the office on Route J north of the Clarence Cannon Dam. Registration will begin Wednesday, May 20, at 7 a.m. No groups larger than four may register at any one time. Only those registered will be allowed to participate due to limited space.
The event will take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Frank Russell Recreation Area. The Missouri Department of Conservation will provide fishing equipment. A casting contest will be conducted by the Mark Bassmasters and experts will instruct young anglers on basic fishing techniques. 
Prizes for participation will be furnished by Hannibal and Mexico Wal-Mart’s, Mick’s Bait and Tackle, Hobbie Hut, South Fork Resort, Buckman’s Convenience Store and 154 Marine. Hickman’s IGA, Ruba’s General Store and C & R Grocery will provide lunch.
