A pair of runners finished in the top 10 to lead the Hannibal girls cross country team to third place out of 11 squads at the Centralia Invitational on Tuesday.

A pair of runners finished in the top 10 to lead the Hannibal girls cross country team to third place out of 11 squads at the Centralia Invitational on Tuesday. 

Claudia Nichols completed the 5K course in 21:41 to take fifth overall, followed by teammate Alayna Pipkin in ninth with a time of 22:33.

Andrew Bryant (25:42, 39th), Ruby Roisum (25:45, 40th) and Alexia Gonzalez (26:54, 52nd) rounded out the official times for the Hannibal girls, who totaled 105 team points to trail only champion Father Tolton (49) and runner-up Centralia (78). 

Lauren Reid led the Palmyra girls with a 24th-place finish of 24:17. Fellow Lady Panther Lydia Szarka crossed in 25:10 to take 34th for Palmyra, which placed ninth in the team standings.

Bella Perkins (26:59, 53rd), Emily Jeffries (27:20, 55th) and Kinsey Tiemann (27:55, 62nd) were next for the Lady Panthers.

Zoe Miller took 56th in 27:25 to pace the Mark Twain girls, while Elizabeth Northcutt was 63rd in 27:58 for the Lady Tigers. 

Brice Miller raced to 15th overall in 19:34 to lead the Hannibal boys to seventh out of 15 squads with 195 team points. Tolton won the boys team title with 90.

Following Miller for Hannibal were John Fritch (20:05, 25th), Jacob Chapman (20:52, 49th), Xavier Damotte (20:59, 53rd) and Darrell Taylor (21:36, 63rd).

Brett Griesbaum and Spencer Locke posted the best performances for the Palmyra boys, who placed ninth in the team standings. Griesbaum finished 21st in 19:51, with Locke 22nd in 19:56.

Boyd Triplett (20:46, 46th), Zach Rosenkrans (21:37, 64th) and Jared DeHaan (22:35, 87th) rounded out Palmyra's official times.

Jackson Jung recorded a time of 21:48 to take 73rd for Mark Twain, while Will Owen was 101st in 23:11 for the Tigers.
