The Monroe City softball team breezed to a 10-0 victory at South Shelby in a Clarence Cannon Conference game Thursday night.

The Monroe City softball team breezed to a 10-0 victory at South Shelby in a Clarence Cannon Conference game Thursday night. 

McKenzie West pitched four shutout innings while striking out seven during a dominant outing. Rachel Smith paced Monroe City with three hits, and Skyler Kauble scored three runs.

The Lady Panthers improve to 5-1 overall and 2-0 in CCC. 

Kauble drove home the initial run with an RBI single to ignite a 3-run first inning. Bailee Hits had a run-scoring groundout, and Carly Youngblood drew a bases-loaded walk.

Kauble hit another RBI single in the second, and Hays drove her in with a groundout.

Smith drove in a run with a single in the fourth. Smith and Hays came home on passed balls later in the frame before Youngblood scored on an error to make it 9-0.

Lauren Youngblood reached on an error, stole second, moved to third on a groundout and scored on a passed ball in the fifth for the 10th run.

Montana Masterson pitched a scoreless bottom of the fifth to close out the game.

Monroe City's offense totaled seven hits and seven walks.
