The Palmyra boys cross country team started the season by finishing in 10th place out of 19 schools at the Running Raider Invitational in Quincy on Tuesday.

The Palmyra boys cross country team started the season by finishing in 10th place out of 19 schools at the Running Raider Invitational in Quincy on Tuesday.

Brett Griesbaum paced Palmyra with a time of 18:46 for 25th overall. Aaron Stamper followed in 18:59 for 27th, while Spencer Locke was 32nd in 19:08.

Boyd Triplett (21:01, 76th) and Zach Rosenkrans (21:02, 77th) rounded out the Panthers' official times.

Lydia Szarka ran a 24:24 to place 52nd overall for the Lady Panthers, who didn't enter enough varsity runners to qualify for the team standings.

Kinsey Tiemann crossed in 26:08 for 83rd, followed by Emily Jeffries (96th) and Lauren Reid (103rd). 

Zoe Miller turned in Mark Twain's best finish of the day. Miller placed 47th in the varsity girls race with a time of 23:44. Teammate Elizabeth Northcutt took 77th in 25:46.

Jackson Jung (21:12, 92nd) and Will Owen (21:51, 104th) ran for the Mark Twain boys.

Pleasant Plains won the meet as a team for both boys and girls.
