The Palmyra softball team won its fifth straight game with a convincing 13-1 five-inning home victory over Clark County on Tuesday night.

The Lady Panthers (5-1) surged ahead in their Clarence Cannon Conference opener with seven runs in the first inning.

That was plenty of support for Palmyra starter Lauren Van Tress, who tossed a one-hitter to earn the win. Van Tress worked around four walks and struck out three to keep her squad in control from start to finish.

Bailey Lovelace scored on a passed ball for the first run. After Lexi Arch came home via an error, Megan Stone hit an RBI triple to drive home Cameron O'Brien for a 3-0 lead.

Morgan Ingram and Lovelace each had RBI singles, and Emma Wittler doubled home a pair of runs to round out the first-inning outburst.

Ingram hit a two-run homer in the second to grow the lead to 9-0, and Stone hit a double in the third to make it 10-1. Drew Billups provided an RBI single in the fourth before Lovelace drove in the final two runs with a two-out double.

Palmyra is scheduled to host Bowling Green on Thursday at Flower City Park.
