The Hannibal boys soccer team got the season started in style with a 10-0 win at Elsberry on Friday afternoon.

Adam Albright led the Pirates with three goals and two assists, while Tristen Terrill and Nathan DeStefane chipped in two goals a piece en route to the lopsided non-conference triumph.

John Maune recorded the shutout in his first varsity start between the pipes.

“Nice to finally get the season started,” Hannibal coach Eric Hill said. “For the first game, the boys actually played well and moved the ball around well. The grass was kind of tall on the field, and I think they adjusted well to that.”

Collin Poage added one goal and one assist. Johnathon Pilliard and Jake Riefesel rounded out the scoring for Hannibal.

Tyler Stevenson, Trevauhn Jenkins and DeStefane each dished out an assist.

Hannibal is scheduled to host Kirksville at 5 p.m. on Tuesday in its first North Central Missouri Conference match.

The Pirates are the reigning NCMC champions.
