The Hannibal girls tennis team was shut out 9-0 by North Central Missouri Conference rival Kirksville in its season opener at home on Friday afternoon.

Shelby Pritchett put up the best fight for Hannibal (0-1, 0-1 NCMC), falling 10-6 at No. 5 singles.

Blair Burton fell 10-2 in the top singles match, while Liz Stilley lost by the same score at No. 2. Elizabeth Brummell and Jaspreet Kandola were defeated 10-3 at No. 3 and No. 4, respectively, with Autumn Krisko losing 10-0 at No. 6.

In doubles, Burton and Stilley fell 10-5 at No. 1; Brummell and Kandola lost 10-3 at No. 2; and Pritchett and Krisko were defeated 10-3 at No. 3.

Kennedi Wallis and Liberty Roisum earned a 6-2 doubles victory for the Lady Pirates at the junior varsity level.
