Hannibal eked into the district bracket as the No. 7 seed and plays at Elsberry at 7 p.m. on Wednesday in the first round.

Post 55 plated four runs in the third inning to break open the victory against New Haven. Kevin Campbell singled and scored during the outburst, while three batters drew walks and eventually circled the bases.

Even though New Haven is seeded higher than Hannibal in the district tournament, Post 55 beat the foe twice in the regular season.

“This was the first time I had everybody there, all 15 players,” Hannibal manager Randy Trenhaile said. “We put together a nice game and won.”

Hannibal erupted for six runs in the fifth inning en route to the win over St. Charles West on Sunday. Smith, Brad Cheek and Kaden Malone all collected hits for Post 55 in the frame.

“We haven't had an inning like that for a long time,” Trenhaile said.

Baxter pitched four innings while surrendering two runs (one earned) to get the no decision. Hayden Hoerr pitched 2 1/3 innings of one-run relief to earn the win, and Mavryk Comley recorded the final two outs for the save.

John Trenhaile hit a pair of doubles and drove two runs home in the win.

St. Charles turned the tables with a six-run fifth inning in the second game of the doubleheader en route to the split.
