The Mark Twain baseball team nearly erased a 13-run deficit Saturday during a 14-13 loss to Schuyler County in Cairo.

After trailing 14-1 through four innings, the Tigers rallied for 12 unanswered runs, including seven in the top of the seventh to bring the winning run to the plate.

Schuyler County secured the win with a groundout to strand a Mark Twain runner at second base. 

Garrett Schoene led Mark Twain (0-6) with three hits, three RBIs and two runs in the loss, while Conner Grossmann also drove in three.

Mark Twain fell 10-0 in six innings to Cairo in its first game of the day. 

Jacob Davis started for the Bearcats and struck out 16 in the complete game shutout.

Cairo never looked back after plating five runs in the second. 

Mark Twain is scheduled to play at North Callaway on Monday.
