The Hannibal track and field team received significant points from its distance runners Saturday at the Capital City Relays.

The Hannibal girls track and field team entered the season believing its distance runners would be a major strength.

The Lady Pirates proved why Saturday.

Alayna Pipkin, Autumn Bigsby, Claudia Nichols and Elle Hudelson scored team points in a trio of relays for Hannibal at the Capital City Relays in Jefferson City.

The group placed third in the 4x800 in 10:10.50, as well as sixth in both the 4x400 (4:29.62) and distance medley (13:57.62).

The Hannibal girls totaled 23 team points overall to finish 13th in the 21-school field.

Cami Bross recorded the best individual finish for the Lady Pirates. The freshman leaped to second in the high jump at 5 feet. Fellow freshman Sydney Hart finished seventh in the long jump at 15 feet, 3 inches.

The Hannibal boys posted 16 team points to take 16th place in their division.

Adreke Brumbaugh raced to second in the 110 hurdles in 15.66 seconds, while Ayden Nichols took third in the 1,600 in 4:38.64.
