The Marion County girls basketball team was overpowered by Chamois on Monday during a 56-26 loss in the first round of the Class 1 District 10 Tournament.

The Marion County girls basketball team was overpowered by Chamois on Monday during a 56-26 loss in the first round of the Class 1 District 10 Tournament.

Katie Keilholz netted seven of her game-high 23 points in the first quarter to help the No. 3 seed Lady Pirates break open a commanding 15-3 lead over the sixth-seeded Lady Mustangs.

Chamois led 29-9 at the intermission, allowing just four field goals over the first two quarters combined.

Payton Hays scored nine points in the second half as the junior tried to rally Marion County.

The playmaker finished with 16 points and five rebounds. 

But Keilholz nailed a trio of treys in the third quarter to extend the Chamois lead to 48-18 entering the final period.

Haley Skaggs added another three for the Lady Pirates in the third as part of her 15 points in the win.

Delaney Huffman and Sadie Spratt each provided four points for Marion County, while Jordan Chatfield rounded out the team's scoring with two.

Spratt stuffed the stat sheet with five rebounds, three steals and three assists in the loss.

Makenzie Crook added three assists for the Lady Mustangs.

Marion County finished the season 0-22.

Chamois improved to 17-9 and advances to play Community in the semifinals.
