The Hannibal Hometown Hitters 17U club volleyball team brought home hardware from Cape Girardeau.

The Hitters won all 10 sets they played Sunday to finish 5-0 in matches for first place at the SEMO II Gateway Region USA Tournament.

Hannibal, which also took third at the PAO Challenge in St. Charles on Jan. 28, improved to 16-3 on the season.

Head coach Kyle Smith was impressed by the steps forward his squad took over the weekend.

“We have been working on aggressive serving in practices and quicker transition,” Smith said. “We saw both of those areas improve greatly since our last tournament, resulting in some big point runs.”

The team includes Hannibal High School's Kyler Rademan, Maddie Janes, Abby Baumann, Payton Frick, Peyton Utterback, Claire Thomas and Delaney Cooke as well as Payson's Carly Wolf.
