Hannibal area pickleball enthusiasts are offering a class to teach people how to play pickleball.

Pickleball 101 will be taught 6-9 p.m. Friday Feb. 9 at the Admiral Coontz Recreation Center. All equipment will be provided.

Bill Baker plays pickleball nearly every weekend in tournaments around Missouri. He will lead the class with the help of other advanced pickleball players.

The class is free but reservations are requested by emailing mlrichards@hannibal-mo.gov or calling 573-221-0154.

Registration is open for leisure, intermediate and competitive pickleball leagues on Thursday nights beginning March 1 at the Admiral Coontz Recreation Center. Registration ends Feb. 19 and will close when all 32 spots are filled. Registration is available at the Hannibal Parks & Recreation office at City Hall, 320 Broadway.

Pickleball is a racquet sport that combines elements of badminton, tennis, and table tennis.
