The Hannibal boys basketball team climbed back over .500 with a 68-47 win over Francis Howell North on Friday night in a consolation game at the Fort Zumwalt North Tournament.
Dezi Jones scored 20 of his game-high 34 points in the first half to help the Pirates (9-8) take a 34-14 lead into halftime.
Howell North managed just five field goals in the first half.
Hannibal scored 17 points in each of the four quarters to cruise into the consolation championship game at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday.
Preston Bennett scored 11 points for Hannibal in the victory, while Wyatt Waelder was the third Pirate in double figures with 10.
The Hannibal junior varsity team lost to Sikeston, 63-32, and plays Saturday for third place in the JV tournament at the same location.
The Pirates freshman team defeated Kirksville 50-48 on Thursday night. Joey Worthington led with 13 points in the win. Caleb Young scored 10, while Cameron Neisen and Hunter Parker each had nine.
