The Hannibal 7th grade girls basketball team blew past Mexico 45-8 on Monday night to remain undefeated on the season.

Chloe Simms led the way for the Lady Pirates with 14 points, including 4 of 5 from the free throw line. Alaina White and Nora Hark each pitched in eight points, while Kyliah French drained a 3-pointer and finished with five points.

Hannibal improved its record to 9-0.

“I'm most pleased with our class on the court,” Hannibal coach Meredith Kelly said. “We put in work on the court but always keep it clean. We rely on our defense at the end of the day. They believe in my system, thus we are successful.”

Hannibal defeated Palmyra 28-20 on Thursday on the strength of 11 points a piece for Simms and Hark.

Last Tuesday, Simms scored 16 points in the first half of a 34-18 rout over Kirksville.

Hannibal downed Bowling Green 42-21 on Nov. 21, when the Lady Pirates never allowed more than seven points in a quarter and netted 15 in the third to pull away.

Hannibal plays at Clark County on Thursday.
