Mark Twain senior Devin Neff beat the rest of the field by 45 seconds Monday afternoon en route to first place at the Clopton Meet.

The Mark Twain senior crossed in 17:16 to handily defeat Van-Far senior Lathyn McMorris (18:01, 2nd) and Clopton junior Donovan Denslow (18:25, 3rd).

Cash Caldwell (23:47) and Brock Hooley (34:15) rounded out Mark Twain, which didn't have enough runners to qualify for the team standings. 

Bowling Green blew out the competition to win the team title with 38 points, well ahead of second-place Clopton with 91. 

Carson Bock led Marion County to seventh (158) with a 21st-place finish of 20:55. Following Bock for the Mustangs were Matthew Wellman (21:36), Hayden Smyser (22:09), Lance Hettinger (22:44), Landen Holt (26:34) and Matthew Gerding (28:51). 

Paced by Payton Hays' 14th-place effort of 25:23, the Marion County girls placed third as a team with 92 points.

Following Hays for the Lady Mustangs were Amy Blair (26:51), Makenzie Crook (27:56), Elizabeth Corey (29:14), Sadie Spratt (30:15) and Delaney Huffman (30:31).

Emma Jo Ross led the Mark Twain girls to fourth as a team with 108 points. The freshman paced the Lady Tigers with a seventh-place finish of 24:21. Following Ross was freshman teammate Zoe Miller, who crossed in 25:21 for 13th.

Rounding out the Lady Tigers were Shelby Epperson (30:09), Anna Gill (31:21), Hannah Smith (31:52) and Emily Branham (33:20).

Bowling Green had five girls finish in the top seven to take the team championship with the low score of 18 points.
