The Hannibal volleyball team split four matches Saturday to finish in fifth place at the Troy Tournament.

Hannibal (10-5) began the day with a tough 23-25, 20-25 loss to Kirkwood before falling to Liberty, 19-25, 22-25. The Lady Pirates turned things around to top St. Charles West 25-20, 25-12 and beat Troy for the second time this season, 25-16, 25-23.

"(We) started the day very slow but picked up momentum," Hannibal coach Kelsey Whitley said. "I am so happy with how the team played overall. Everyone who came in off the bench made a difference and played as a team."

Kaylee Falconer dished out 42 set assists to lead the Hannibal offense, while Maddie Janes and Abby Baumann each recorded a team-high 16 kills on the day. The outside hitters also combined for 60 digs.

Peyton Utterback finished with 13 kills and four digs during the tourney, while Haley Ballinger came up with 20 digs. Kyler Rademan contributed 20 set assists, six kills, 11 digs and three aces for the Lady Pirates.

Coming up next for Hannibal is a road match at Quincy Notre Dame on Tuesday.
