After a lackluster game Monday night, the Monroe City softball team bounced back in a big way Thursday.

McKenzie West and Riley Quinn teamed up to throw a 5-inning no-hitter in a 10-0 win over visiting Brookfield. West tossed the first four innings, while Quinn finished game with a perfect frame in the fifth.

The Lady Panthers offense scored in each of the four innings they came to bat, including a 4-run third inning. Haleigh St. Clair knocked in three runs with a pair of hits, while freshman Bailee Hays finished 1-for-3 with two RBIs.

After committing six errors in a loss to Centralia on Monday night, the Lady Panthers had an error-free game against Brookfield.

“I hope our offense can continue but I am really looking for our defense to do its job,” Lady Panthers coach Melissa Chinn said. “They played well tonight and I want to see it stay solid.”

Monroe City (11-2) will play in the Louisiana Tournament this weekend.
