Coming off of a perfect game, Lauren VanTress dazzled inside the circle once again Tuesday evening. The Palmyra junior pitched a complete game shutout in the Lady Panthers 8-0 win at Louisiana.

VanTress scattered just four hits while striking out five to help Palmyra improve to 4-2 on the season.

“Lauren did a great job of keeping the ball down and allowed our defense to make plays behind her tonight,” Lady Panthers coach Jill Arch said.

Palmyra broke the game wide open with a 6-run fifth inning for a more comfortable 7-0 lead. A Bailey Lovelace 2-run triple and a Morgan Ingram 2-run home run highlighted the big inning.

“They both came up with some big hits for us in the top of the fifth inning,” Arch said.

Megan Stone and Baylee Anderson combined for four hits to pace the 10-hit offensive attack for the Lady Panthers.

Palmyra plays host to conference rival Monroe City on Thursday. The game is a rematch of last season’s district championship game, which was won by Monroe City in extra innings.
