The Hannibal Legion Post 55 A baseball team will play host to eight other teams from around the state this week as the state tournament commences on Wednesday.

As the host site, Hannibal received an automatic bid into the tournamnet bracket, which features eight teams from across the Show-Me State.

Games will be played at Clemens Field, with the opener slated for 10 a.m. Wednesday.

Hannibal’s A team will take the field at 7 p.m. Wednesday against Sullivan.

Other teams in the bracket include returning state champion Washington and returning state runner-up Jackson. They will face each other on Wednesday. Other first-day match ups includ Glendale against Festus and St. Robert against Ballwin.

The tournament is double elimination style with a championship game set to be played on Saturday.

Tickets are $5 per day or $12 for the week at the Clemens Field gate. Kids 15 and under are free.

Concessions will be available, along with a raffle for a St. Louis Cardinals package that includes four tickets behind the home dugout, $200 spending cash and a $50 gas card. Tickets for the raffle are $5 each or three for $10. The winner will be selected at the championship game on Saturday.
