Athletes from the Hannibal area now at CMU received awards and recognition for athletic accomplishments during the 2016-17 school year.

More than 300 Central Methodist University student-athletes received awards and recognition for athletic accomplishments during the 2016-17 school year.

CMU held its annual All-Sport Awards Ceremony on Thursday, April 27, during which many of the athletes were honored.

The following CMU students from the Hannibal area received awards:

Ashley Brown, a sociology major from Silex, who lettered in softball.

Kayla Dawkins, an education and biology double major from Shelbina, who lettered in women's indoor and outdoor track and was recognized for serving on the Student Athlete Champions of Character Council.

Hannah Iborg, a nursing major from Troy, who lettered in softball.

Scarlett McMullen, an education and special education double major from Palmyra, who lettered in spirit squad and was recognized as an NAIA Scholar-Athlete. She was also honored for her contributions as a dance team captain.

Taylor Nealy, a nursing major from Troy, who lettered in women's soccer.

Daniel Pugh, a criminal justice major from Bowling Green, who lettered in men's indoor and outdoor track and field.

Kyle Sachs, an undeclared major from Troy, who lettered in men's golf.

Hannah Smith, an undeclared major from Palmyra, who lettered in women's indoor and outdoor track and field, and was named a Heart of America All-Conference athlete for indoor track and field.

Kylie Thwing, an undeclared major from Troy, who lettered in women's soccer.

Paige Utterback, a biology major from New London, who lettered in Women's Soccer.
