American Legion Post 55 is hosting its first annual youth baseball tournament this weekend, May 19 to 21, at Bear Creek Sports Complex.

The bracket includes 20 teams from the surrounding area.

Games will begin Friday at 6 p.m. and continue at 9 a.m. both Saturday and Sunday.

“All the proceeds go to support our Legion baseball program,” said tournament director Claude White. “Those boys have never paid and we're trying to keep it that way. We figure by doing this, when the little guys get bigger, there will be little guys behind them feeding it for them.”

The American Legion will also host a senior tournament Memorial Day weekend on May 26, 27 and 28.

Those games will be split between Clemens Field, Flower City Park and Veterans Sports Complex.

The senior bracket opens play at 6 p.m. on May 26 and continues at 9 a.m. on both May 27 and May 28.

A total of 13 teams from Missouri and Illinois will compete in the senior tourney.
