Shelby Stine had a scoring party Monday night to lead the Hannibal girls soccer team to a 12-2 victory at Elsberry.

The junior set the Lady Pirates single game record with seven goals and has now compiled 41 scores on the season, more than any player in team history.

"Shelby had a big night," Hannibal coach Eric Hill understated.

Six of Stine's tallies came before halftime.

The forward netted her first goal in the 10th minute off an assist from freshman Peyton Utterback before adding two more in the 13th and 14th to put the Lady Pirates ahead 3-0.

Stine then netted a pair of unassisted goals to make it 5-0 before knocking in her sixth off an assist by Haley Ballinger in the 31st minute.

Utterback scored in the 33rd minute to push Hannibal's lead to 7-0 at the halftime break. The freshman scored again in the 54th for the Lady Pirates eighth goal before Elsberry's Elly Boothe put the home team on the board. Boothe scored her second goal eight minutes later.

"(Boothe) was extremely, extremely talented up top," Hill said. "She did a really nice job. She's a really nice player for them and she got a couple goals on us tonight."

Stine netted her seventh goal in the 64th minute before Hannibal goalkeeper Samantha Zielinski got in on the fun. Zielinski came up from her post to score a penalty kick that put the Lady Pirates ahead 10-2.

Grace McIntosh scored unassisted in the 66th minute before Utterback, who finished with a hat trick, rounded out the attack in the 76th.

"The girls again moved the ball really well," Hill said. "It was disappointing to give up a couple goals when we're able to score so many, you'd think we'd be able to pitch a shutout. But we just came out and played hard and played well."

Hannibal (15-5) hosts Southern Boone on Wednesday.
