Buoyed by strong play in doubles, the Hannibal tennis team finished in fifth place at the North Central Missouri Conference tournament Friday in Kirksville.

Buoyed by strong play in doubles, the Hannibal tennis team finished in fifth place at the North Central Missouri Conference tournament Friday in Kirksville.

Hannibal duo Ethan Bross and Luke Boyd won No. 2 doubles, while Collin Poage and Austin Brown did the same in the No. 3 bracket.

All four were named to all-NCMC honors.

In singles, Austin Taylor, the Pirates top player, finished sixth among No. 1s; Caleb Northcutt placed fifth in the No. 2 bracket; Caleb Lionberger finished seventh among the 3s; Adam Ledbetter took fifth in the No. 4s; John Maune finished fifth in the No. 5 competition; and Forrest Lemon placed fourth in the No. 6 bracket.

Duncan Lemon and Donovan Mefford were fifth in No. 1 doubles.

Hannibal opens Class 2 District 8 play Monday at Timberland.
