Not even an island green could stop the Palmyra boys golf team from continuing their impressive streak to start the season.

Not even an island green could stop the Palmyra boys golf team from continuing their impressive streak to start the season.

The Panthers remained undefeated on the season as they cruised to a triangular win over Highland and Clark County on Tuesday evening at Three Pines Golf Course.

Palmyra carded a team score of 153, which was 33 strokes better than Highland. Clark County finished with a score of 200.

Lane Hammond, Laithan Sublette and Noah Wilson swept the top three spots.

Hammond fired an even-par 35 to earn medalist honors. Sublette was one stroke back, while Wilson finished with a 37.

The Panthers top three golfers have flip-flopped as the No. 1 golfer on the team all season.

Ragar McKinney rounded out the scoring for the Panthers with a 45. Landon Merkel also played on the Panthers varsity and carded a 50.

“Just another great team win tonight,” Panthers coach Marty Smyser said. “The course has a tough island green par three (hole No. 9), that hurt us a little tonight, but the guys battled and played well.”

Palmyra will participate in the South Shelby Invitational Friday morning with a 9 a.m. shotgun start.
