Hayden Hoerr and Austin Riney teamed up for a five-inning no-hitter to pace Palmyra to a 14-1 win over South Shelby on Friday evening.

The contest was a first-round game in the Clarence Cannon Conference Tournament.

The Panthers, who won the league title last season, earned the top seed in the tournament, while South Shelby is the No. 8 seed.

Hoerr fanned 10 batters in his four innings on the mound, while Riney recorded the final three outs and struck out a pair and allowed an unearned run.

Jacob Kroeger, the Panthers lead-off man, supplied all the power needed for the game with a pair of solo home runs. He finished the game 2-for-3 and 3 RBIs.

Peyton Abbott and Jory Maddox also recorded two hits a piece, while Nolan Wosman plated a pair of runs.

The Panthers (1-0) play host to Mark Twain on Monday night and will return to CCC tournament play Saturday when they host Clark County.
