After all eight Pirates lost their first-round bouts, senior Gavin Scott, freshman Garrett Ruby and junior Andrew Jones each earned victories in the first-round wrestle backs to remain alive.

Juniors Austin Carroll and Chase Hawes and seniors Will Bowen, Taylor Pritchett and Dalton Huffman saw their seasons come to an end.

Here is a rundown of results for Hannibal by weight:

At 120 pounds, Scott (31-10) lost a 14-1 major decision to Marshall junior Dalton Landreth (37-5) in the first round. Scott won his first-round wrestle back match by forfeit to live another day.

Bowen (23-21), in the 145-pound weight class, was pinned by Windsor junior Jacob Warrenton in 2 minutes, 18 seconds in his first-round bout. Bowen then was eliminated with a 16-8 major decision loss to Carthage junior Corben Pugh in the first-round wrestle backs.

Ruby (37-10) was pinned by Union senior Josh Clark (40-9) in 18 seconds to lose his first-round, 152-pound match. Ruby rebounded in wrestle backs to top Harrisonville senior Michael Messer (17-13) by fall in 2 minutes, 20 seconds to earn a spot in the second day.

In the 160-pound division, Jones (31-13) lost his first-round match by fall to Harrisionville junior Braden Danner (32-3) in 39 seconds. Jones then won his wrestle back match with a pin at 3:41 over Sikeston senior Luke Blanton (39-17).

At 170 pounds, Carroll (21-17) lost a 7-5 decision in the first round to Desoto senior Michael Manning (37-6). Carroll was then eliminated when he was pinned by Carthage junior Dillon Lancaster (36-18) in 2 minutes, 11 seconds in the wrestle back round.

Pritchett (32-13) lost by fall to Raytown South junior Lewis Caples (32-9) in the first round. Pritchett then dropped a 5-0 decision to Carthage senior Gage Bloomer (32-19) in his wrestle back match.

In the 195-pound class, Huffman (28-8) dropped a 7-2 decision to Republic junior Hunter Pyle (43-5) in the first round. Huffman then lost a 9-4 decision in wrestle backs to Festus senior Tyler Sexton (41-6).

Rounding out the Pirates, Hawes (17-16) was pinned by Farmington sophomore Dalton Berg (32-13) in 1:53 in the first round. Hawes then was eliminated when he was pinned in 1:58 by Willard senior Austin Hymer in wrestle backs.
