The Palmyra Panthers held on to defeat Macon 58-46 for a road victory on Friday night but lost to Unity (IL) on Saturday.

Palmyra (7-11, 1-1 Clarence Cannon Conference) led 21-8 after the first quarter and remained ahead by 11 at halftime before Macon clawed back into the contest in the second half, closing within six points going to the fourth quarter.

The Panthers, though, maintained their lead thanks to a pair of 3-pointers by Ragar Plunkett in the final period. 

Senior Casch Doyle led Palmyra with 15 points, while Peyton Plunkett scored 12 and Ragar Plunkett finished with 10.

On Saturday, Unity (IL) edged Palmyra in a back-and-forth battle on its home court 54-50.

Palmyra led 15-11 after the first quarter but trailed by three points at the halftime break.

Unity led 38-37 going to the fourth and maintained its slim advantage to the final horn.

Peyton Plunkett scored seven of his team-leading 16 points in the last eight minutes. Doyle and Ragar McKinney each finished with 12 points on the night, while Laithan Sublette scored seven. 

Unity (IL) standout Cory Miller led with 30 points. 

Palmyra hosts conference rival Clark County at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
